Chi sono Tex e suoi pards?
August 16, 2007 07:38 AM PDT
Who are these guys... Tex and his partners? You guessed it... these guys are superheroes of the wild west. Tex is constantly helping someone in distress by chasing down bad guys and solving mysteries. The stories aren't just about cowboys and indians but they also involve murder, mystery, intrigue, and even things magical and supernatural. Tex Willer, Kit Carson, Kit Willer and Tiger Jack are the four characters who reappear in most of the stories. Tex is always there as the central character and the others are often there with him. What are the particular characteristics of Tex Willer? (By the way, Willer is pronounced in Italian as you would say "Wheeler" in English.) Tex is almost always right, he is never seriously wounded and he is always victorious by the end of the story. He's very much a tough guy with a strong sense of right and wrong but he bends the law when his instincts tell him it's for the greater good. Tex is also very anti-racist. His now deceased wife was an indian and among the indians he is know as Eagle-of-the-Night. Who is Kit Carson? Kit is Tex's faithful companion and friend. He's also a Texas Ranger but he's about 10 years older and he's drawn with grey hair and a goatee. He's been a long running character in the comic book series. Tex and Kit constantly challenge and pick at each other. The banter between these two main characters provides the comic relief. Kit tends to be a bit crabby and old-fashioned. Who is Kit Willer? This is the son of Tex. He's the product of the Tex's marriage with the indian, Lilyth. Kit Willer acts kind of adolescent and occasionally gets himself into trouble but he also likes to help his father. A Kit Willer fan created a musical tribute which is available here...Click here for Kit Willer - Wild Child video Who is Tiger Jack? Tiger is a Navaho indian who speaks very little but acts a lot. He's the most serious and talented partner for Tex. Tiger is without doubt the most in-tune with nature and the best at reading environmental clues. Tiger Jack is also has a very strong friendship with Kit Willer and when Kit was younger he acted as his guardian. All together these four guys form an incredibly strong team in the fight against evil. The Italian newspaper, The Republic, calls them the four musketeers of the west. |

The podcasts and other materials on the website will show you how deeply the characters have entered the consciousness of contemporary Italian society. Transcripts are available for download. Please send me comments and suggestions at fumetti@podomatic.com. Grazie tante! About KeithCiao a tutti! I took my first Italian language class with some friends in preparation for our vacation in Italy. Needless to say the vacation was an incredible experience. I decided that I would return to Italy as much as possible and I would also continue to learn Italian. Since then I've become the Organizer of the Washington, DC Italian language Meetup group [http://italian.meetup.com/38] and I've returned to Italy many times. Each time I go back to Italy it's even more enjoyable because now I can converse with people in their native language. Italian fumetti [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_comics] are my latest obsession. I've started to read them as much as possible and I'm finding it to be a great way to expand my knowledge of Italian. This podcast is an effort to share my passion with others. Here's an article from the Italian "Comics Blog" about this series of podcasts...clicca qui [http://www.comicsblog.it/post/990/impara-litaliano-con-tex] Enjoy! Buon divertimento!
